Uncertified CPR & Classes in San Jose

How to protect yourself from Fraudulent CPR Classes

Fake CPR Classes

I have noticed a lot of fraudulent CPR and First-aid classes being offered in the San Jose area and over the computer. Each week, we have students who come to take a retraining with us, since the certification card they received from their original training course was not accepted at their worksite. This is very frustrating since the students not only have to pay for the course twice, but they must also spend their time taking a course again. Taking a CPR class is fun, but taking a CPR training twice can be annoying. It is your personal responsibility to protect yourself, but I hope this guide will help you in your decision to find an official training course by the American Heart Association.

Online CPR Classes

BLS CPR class online

Online CPR classes are an internet scam that has been around for a few years. It is not possible to receive a valid CPR certification card over the computer. Since CPR involves skills that must be performed under the watchful eyes of an American Heart Association instructor, online CPR courses are fraudulent. It is possible to find a website where you pay $40-$60 and then immediately print out a card. Does that sound valid? How do you think your supervisor will react when they find out you tried to get a fake CPR certification card? Warn your friends and family about this latest internet scam or better yet, print out this poster below to warn fellow coworkers.

How to spot a fake class
Use terminology like “AHA approved”, AHA compliant”, or “follows AHA guidelines”.
Do not require any type of skills testing. The class is conducted 100% online.
Offer money back guarantee if card is not accepted. (They already know the card is not accepted, but good luck getting your money back.)

Life Time CPR Card
There are even some online CPR training schools who offer a life time CPR certification card. Really? It does sound convenient to pay $199 for an online CPR certification card that will never expire. However, this is a scam. Please take an official American Heart Association or American Red Cross certification class and you will receive a card that is valid for two years.

Forget about the Card
Even though there are lots of organizations out there who issue fraudulent CPR cards, let’s get back to the basics of why you need a card. Many people need their certification card as part of their work requirement. But in your work environment, you may one day need to use these skills. This is why it is very important to take an official American Heart Association training course with lots of practice time.

Fraudulent CPR Classes – In the News

CPR Online training

If someone is in the medical or healthcare field, their job requires them to perform these life-saving skills. How can they perform their job properly without having the correct training. The people who suffer are those who need high quality CPR.

EMSA CPR & First-aid Classes for Childcare Providers

 Pediatric First-aid CPR

The state of California requires childcare providers to have 8 hours of CPR and First-aid training once every two years. It is possible to find CPR training companies that offer this course in 6, 4, or even 2 hours. However, if a childcare provider takes one of these shortened courses, their certification card would not be valid and they would have to retake the course.

EMSA has issued a fraud alert, since there have been so many childcare providers that have taken a course that is not valid. They have even included a list on how to choose an approved Pediatric First-aid and CPR program.

How to Choose a CPR Company in the San Jose Area

There are many different CPR companies to choose from in the San Francisco Bay Area and Sacramento. It is important that you do some research to find the perfect company for your training needs.

Local/Out of State
Would you prefer doing business with a locally owned company or with a company from out of the state or out of the area? Beware of out of state companies since they normally only offer training courses about once per month. It is very common that they cancel classes if there is a low turnout and then you must wait another month for your class.
We are a locally owned business in downtown San Jose We are a member of the chamber of commerce and the San Jose BBB.

American Heart Association Training Center
It is always nice dealing directly with an American Heart Association Training Center.
San Jose CPR Certification is an official TC with the AHA and the license number is CA-20784.

EMSA Training Center for Childcare Providers
EMSA has issued a fraud alert about unauthorized providers of Pediatric CPR and First-aid classes in the Bay Area. If you take a course from an unauthorized provider, you would have to retake the course again.
Our license number with EMSA is 0204-DC. You can view our license here.

Certification Card
Find out when you will receive your certification card. Many people need their CPR certification card for job requirements and need their card right away. When booking a class it is important to know when you will receive the card since some San Joaquin CPR companies mail out the card which can take 2-3 weeks for you to receive.
We issue the official American Heart Association certification card on the day of the training.

Cancellation Policy
Be sure to read the fine print before you book a CPR or BLS training course in San Jose. Many Central Valley CPR companies offer no refunds or a $50 cancellation fee if you cancel your class with less than 21 days notice. We offer a convenient way to cancel your class. After you register for a course, you will receive an email confirmation. If you want to cancel your class, click one button and you are immediately removed from the roster.
We offer one click cancellation. You can cancel anytime with no penalty.

Payment Policy
A lot of Santa Clara County CPR companies ask you to pay immediately by credit card to reserve a seat in class. With their strict cancellation policies, you are locked in to take a class with them and pay cancellation or rescheduling fees.
We do not ask for payment until the day of the training (except for ACLS and PALS classes)

First-aid classes in Fremont, CA are not only vital for individuals who may find themselves in an emergency situation, where their help is a matter of life or death, they can also be meaningful for local communities in Fremont, CA where people thrive.  It’s important for many organizations around Fremont to think about hosting first aid classes by contracting with Safety Training Seminars who will visit to put on workshops or classes related to basic first-aid training and possibly CPR.  The class can be tailored to the organization itself.  Yet the benefit is always the shared knowledge and training that may save someone’s life someday.

Public Library
Public libraries can provide an important service to the community by offering annual first aid classes or workshops to the community.  They can offer adults a class that will provide basic instructions for administering first aid for a variety of emergency situations from dog bites and bee stings to falls and even suspected poisonings.  Libraries, as local institutions, are ideal facilities for offering this type of skilled first aid training.

While adults may attend basic first aid sessions, young adults have also attended such programs hosted at public libraries.  For instance, baby-sitting classes may touch on some first aid training.  Many community libraries already host these types of service-oriented programs.  For those that do not offer first aid-related training, they might consider offering a first aid class over the winter or spring.

Police Department
Many town and village police departments offer community outreach on a variety of topics.  You’ll find they host workshops for everything from installing child car seats properly to some first aid training sessions.  These events are always positively received in the community and help build a strong relationship between the community and its police force.  Police departments that have never offered this first aid and CPR workshops before may want to consider adding some to the annual schedule of events.  By inviting professional trainers to run the program, their role is simply to host or foster the program.

High School
Many high schools will host community events such as first-aid training sessions near Fremont, CA.  Not only do such programs attract older students, they also attract local community members.  As many high school graduates may have plans to enter the health care field in some capacity, this type of class or workshop could even be conducted through the school’s career counseling center.

Youth Groups and Organizations
Older groups of students can benefit from basic first aid know-how.  Community groups might consider hosting first aid and CPR classes for their participants and their families.  These programs are educational and can be tailored to the group’s basic needs.

Communities in Fremont, CA, that embrace first-aid certification near Fremont, CA, certainly do the occupants of those towns and cities a great service.  Moreover, when organizations around towns offer these great programs, it’s up to the residents themselves to take advantage of the first aid training that is quite often offered at no charge — simply as a vital public service.  In other words, be sure to attend; you’ll feel good about the knowledge you gain.
